5 Steps to Summer Clean Glow

0

Summer is the time for our creamy foundations to take the back seat and our natural beauty to be the star of the show! However, as the mercury rises, so does the sweating and oil secretions. The greasy skin becomes a store-house of attracted dirt and pollutants apart from being bereft of its nutrients that flow out with the sweat. A face that’s so impacted by the villainies of the hot weather can never be ready to look good unless it’s being coddled by a proper skin-care routine.

Before skipping the foundation and baring your skin, prep it up to make it shine through the summer months.
This clean-glow routine is what you need to maintain your skin’s health and keep it looking fresh and nourished:

5 Steps of Summer Clean Glow Routine

Step#1 Cleansing:

Cleansing is an absolute must when the weather becomes hot and humid. Cleanse your face once in the morning and go for a deep-pore cleansing in the evening or before going to bed. This will clean your pores of all the dirt and pollutants it gathers and also reduce the surface oil. Go for an oil control cleanser if you have oily skin. Wash your face properly after cleansing to get rid of all accumulated debris and sweat deposits. Use of cleansing grains to wash the face post cleansing is highly recommended.

Make a Note: Even if you have spent the whole day at home and feel that your face is clean; cleansing at the end of the day can still do you good.

Recipe for the home-made yogurt and honey cleanser:

Mix 4 tbsp of yogurt, 1 tbsp of honey and two tbsp of lime juice in a mixing bowl. Apply this on your face and massage in circular motions for two to three minutes. Wash off with cold water.

Step#2 Exfoliation:

Skipping exfoliation is the biggest summer skin-care mistake. Exfoliation is the key to glowing complexion since it does away with the dead skin layers and those dirt and make-up particles that have penetrated so deeply into the skin that cleansing alone can’t remove them. Besides, exfoliation also improves blood circulation of the face, thus keeping summer redness and puffiness at bay. However, do not go overboard with the exfoliation! Exfoliating too much can rid the skin of even those oils that it needs or break the skin down to a point where its natural defenses get impaired. It is best to exfoliate twice a week all summer long to keep the skin glowing and healthy.

Recipe for your very own home-made oatmeal scrub:

Mix 1tbsp of fine oatmeal and 1 tbsp of baking soda with water and make a thick paste. Scrub your face with this mixture for excellent exfoliation.

 Step#3 Toning:

Toning becomes a very important part of skin-care in summers. When you apply the toner you close your pores, thus fairly preventing the dirt and pollutants from seeping into the skin. Applying a toner also cools and refreshes the skin, making you look and feel fresh. Opt for toners with cooling benefits.

Step#4 Moisturizing:

Contrary to popular belief, moisturization is not something exclusive to winters only but it is needed in the summer months as well. Your skin loses a lot of water because of sweating and it is essential for you to keep it hydrated and give it the moisture it needs to look glowing. Your moisturizer from the winter months cannot be worn in summers as it will turn your face into an oil-pan and make you feel really hot. Go for light, water-based facial moisturizers and apply it right after the shower to help seal the moisture in.

Step#5 Serum:

Purchase a good skin serum and put it on daily during summer months to replenish your skin with all the nutrients it needs. This light-weight concentrated product does for you topically what multivitamin tablets do externally. This summer put on a good skin serum instead of your night cream before going to bed.
